The Spoken Word
here are two types of live interpretation - consecutive and simultaneous.
Consecutive interpreting is generally used in smaller meetings or at court hearings and does not necessarily need any special equipment. Simultaneous interpreting requires booths, headsets and the services of a sound engineer.

UPS is able to provide both types of interpreting and equipment - with the common thread being an intuitive understanding of both languages that makes every translation make sense, even at speed.
We also interpret for focus groups where people brought together to give their opinions on a particular issue or product for market research are interpreted simultaneously, usually from behind a two-way mirror. Catching not just the meaning of the words but the body language with which they are expressed is a very specialised art, and one in which we are well versed.
UPS also offers liaison interpreting, where the interpreter accompanies one person for, say, an interview with a solicitor, or for a hospital appointment, to guide a group around an exhibition or on a factory visit, for example.
